The Bioimaging and Flow Cytometry Facility incorporates all of the Institute’s high-end microscopy, cell sorting and flow cytometry equipment. Please contact us to have an initial discussion prior to arranging use of the instruments.

A dedicated team ensures that all users have appropriate training to use the state-of-the-art technologies and techniques on offer.

Flow Cytometry Analysers

Characterisation of samples (e.g. Immunophenotyping), BD LSR Fortessa 4 lasers/16 fluorescent channels,  BD LSR Fortessa X20 4 lasers/ 16 fluorescent channels, 96 well plate high through put system

Fluorescence Activated Cell Sorting (FACS)

Characterisation of samples and physical separation and recovery of samples for downstream processing (e.g. single cell sorting of a specific populaiton of cells into 96/384 well plate for single cell sequencing,) BD FACS Aria IIIu, 4 laser/ 11 fluorescent channels

Microscopy

Brightfield Microscopes, 5x Upright compound microscopes, Brightfield/darkfield/DIC/Polarisation

Fluorescence Microscopes

3x upright widefield fluorescence, Zeiss StereoLumnar V12, 3 x Inverted

Laser Scanning Confocal Microscopes

Zeiss LSM 710 inverted confocal, 6 laser lines, +32 Channel QUASAR detector, Tiling/z-stacking/FRAP module Zeiss LSM 880 Airyscan/Fastscan , 7 laser lines, + 32channel Quasar GaAsP detector, Airy/fastscan detector, Tiling/z-stacking/live cell incubation/gas box
